Role Descriptions

President

The President shall be the chief executive officer of the Association elected by the Association membership.

  1. Serves as the official representative of the Association.
  2. May propose legislation to the A.S. Board.
  3. Chairs the Executive Committee.
  4. Makes appointments to committees and boards for the Association with the consent of the A.S. Board by a 2/3 vote.
  5. Serves as a member of the A.S. Board.
  6. Vote on actions or decisions taken by the A.S. Board.

Administrative Vice President

The Administrative Vice President shall be the chief financial assistant to the President.

  1. The Administrative Vice President shall chair the Board of Finance.
  2. The Administrative Vice President shall be the chief fiscal advisor to the
  3. President and the A.S. Board.
  4. The Administrative Vice President shall assume the duties of the President during the President’s absence.
  5. The Administrative Vice President shall sit on the Executive Committee.
  6. Makes appointments to committees and boards for the Association with the consent of the A.S. Board by a 2/3 vote.
  7. Serves as a member of the A.S. Board
  8. Vote on actions or decisions taken by the A.S. Board.

Legislative Vice President

The Legislative Vice President shall be the chief legislative assistant to the President.

  1. The Legislative Vice President shall chair the A.S. Board and may vote on actions or decisions taken by the A.S. Board when such a vote will affect the outcome.
  2. The Legislative Vice President shall be responsible to receive information from Associated Students committee appointments.
  3. The Legislative Vice President shall be responsible for the maintenance of and adherence to the Associated Students Code.
  4. The Legislative Vice President shall sit on the Executive Committee.
  5. Makes appointments to committees and boards for the Association with the consent of the A.S. Board by a 2/3 vote.
  6. Serves as a member of the A.S. Board

Student Affairs Vice President

The Student Affairs Vice President shall be the chief advisor on student affairs to the President.

  1. The Student Affairs Vice President shall chair the Associated Students
  2. Student Affairs Committee.
  3. The Student Affairs Vice President shall sit on the University Center
  4. Board of Directors.
  5. The Student Affairs Vice President shall sit on the Student Affairs
  6. Directors Committee.
  7. The Student Affairs Vice President shall sit on the Executive Committee.
  8. Makes appointments to committees and boards for the Association with the consent of the A.S. Board by a 2/3 vote.

Executives

The Executive Committee serves as an advisory group assessing the needs and goals of the Associated Students. The committee also evaluates any A.S. Board of Directors member as to upholding their responsibilities and recommends appointments to the A.S. Board of Directors. The committee consists of the A.S. President, three A.S. Vice Presidents, the External Affairs Representative, the A.S. Elections Commissioner, the A.S. Presents Representative, and an A.S. Board of Directors representative.

Board Representatives

There are two representatives from each college, one Graduate Student Representative, and two At-Large Representatives.

  1. Powers and Duties of the Associated Students Board of Directors:
  2. To formulate the Association's Rules, Regulations and Policies, as detailed in the Associated Students Code and other policy papers.
  3. Vote on actions or decisions taken by the Board of Directors.
  4. To make appropriations from the treasury of the Association.
  5. To approve standing rules of the Board of Directors and meeting calendar.
  6. To establish the amount of the Association's membership fee with theapproval of its membership voting on this issue in an election.
  7. To impeach any officer of the Association.
  8. To call special elections.
  9. To place legislative initiatives on the ballot by majority vote.
  10. To elect a Vice Chair from its membership.
  11. To maintain written records of the A.S. Board of Directors proceedings which shall be posted for the benefit of the members of the Association.
  12. To promote the use and development of programs funded by the Association.
  13. To approve the annual budget.
  14. To monitor and evaluate budgets of and services offered by the organizations funded by the Association.
  15. To approve Executive Officer appointments by a 2/3 vote.
  16. To create committees and ad-hoc committees, and to empower those committees to accomplish goals set by the Board of Directors.
  17. To ratify the results of the Associated Students Elections.
